01 About

Engineer.
Designer. Builder.

I’m Chen, an Apple-platform engineer in Seattle. I make focused products that respect the platform, the person using them, and the details most people never see.

02 The work

I like the point where
systems become feeling.

My work spans SwiftUI, watchOS, HealthKit, CloudKit, on-device AI, and the infrastructure that keeps an app reliable beyond its happy path.

I care about the whole product: naming and data flow, the motion of a transition, privacy boundaries, App Store delivery, and the small decisions that make software feel inevitable rather than assembled.

03 Principles

A few quiet
convictions.

Constraints I return to when architecture or product direction gets noisy.

  1. 01

    Native by nature

Platform conventions are a creative constraint, not something to route around.

  2. 02

    Private by default

On-device intelligence when possible, with clear boundaries when a service is needed.

  3. 03

    Details are the product

The interface, edge cases, and invisible engineering all shape the experience.

04 Beyond Xcode

A wider field
of view.

Away from product work, I’m usually photographing a city, testing a training idea, or finding a better tool for an everyday ritual.
