What Keeps stores

Keeps stores item names, categories, purchase amounts and currencies, dates, warranty details, notes, photos, photo-editing instructions, saved image source addresses, usage history, goals, and sale details you provide. It also stores preferences and reference exchange rates needed for the features you use.

No Keeps account is required. Keeps does not operate a developer-hosted collection or sync service.

Optional iCloud synchronization

If you enable iCloud sync, your collection and related photos are sent to Apple’s CloudKit service in the private database associated with your iCloud account. Devices signed in to that account can synchronize the collection. The developer does not have access to your private collection through the app.

Apple handles iCloud under its own terms and privacy policy. The separate demo collection stays local.

Photos and on-device processing

Keeps reads the photos and files you select through system pickers. Photo effects and subject extraction run on your device. The imported original and reversible editing instructions are retained with your collection and included in backups; they also synchronize when iCloud is enabled.

Widgets (version 1.1.0)

The upcoming widget feature keeps a small local copy of item names, thumbnail images, purchase dates, usage summaries, and cost information in storage shared only by Keeps and its widget extension. Overview, Item, and Item Suggestion widgets use that copy to display your collection without sending it to the developer or another service. Automatic suggestions compare ownership age, logged use, and price on your device. Widgets can show personal information on your Home Screen or Lock Screen; Apple’s widget privacy settings control visibility while locked. Leaving your personal collection for demo mode replaces the widget copy with an empty state.

Web photos

When you search for an image, your search text is sent to the provider you choose: Bing, Google, or Brave. Changing providers for an active search also sends the query to the newly selected provider. Websites you open and image hosts you download from receive ordinary network information, including your IP address and requested address, under their own policies.

The embedded browser uses a temporary session. Image downloads do not copy browser cookies or credentials. Selected images and their source addresses are saved with your item. Keeps does not send your collection to a search provider.

Website and order imports

When you choose to import a purchase from a website, Keeps opens that website in a temporary in-app browser. The website receives ordinary browser requests and any information you enter there under its own privacy policy. If you sign in, credentials are entered directly into the website; Keeps does not add them to your collection or send them to the developer.

If you type something other than a web address into the importer’s address bar, that text is sent to Google as a search query under Google’s privacy policy.

After you ask Keeps to read a product or order page, the app processes the visible page on your device and shows the extracted title, price, currency, date, quantity, source address, and available product image for your review. Nothing is added to your collection until you select it and confirm the import. The details and image you confirm are then stored like other item data and may synchronize through your private iCloud database when sync is enabled. Closing the general product browser ends its temporary session. The dedicated Amazon order browser uses the saved local session described below.

Saved Amazon sign-in

The dedicated Amazon order importer can keep cookies and website data in an isolated WebKit profile on this device after you close its window. Keeps explains this before first use. The saved sign-in is not copied into your collection, Keeps backups, photo-download requests, or Keeps iCloud synchronization, and is not sent to the developer. Amazon receives ordinary browser requests under its own privacy policy and may require you to sign in again when its session expires.

Anyone able to open Keeps on this device may be able to access your Amazon account. On a shared device, clear your saved session after use. Choose Settings → Amazon sign-in → Clear Amazon sign-in, or open Amazon sign-in inside the importer. This removes cookies and website data from Keeps on this device. It does not delete imported items or sign you out in other apps or on other devices.

Apple Intelligence and Siri

When requested, Keeps uses Apple’s on-device model to suggest an item name and category, explain recognized receipt text, or generate a collection briefing and answer questions. An item photo is analyzed only when you choose to include it on a supported system. Briefings use purchase and usage facts and a limited selection of item details; they exclude notes and photos. Keeps does not send these prompts or data to a developer server, Private Cloud Compute, or a third-party AI provider. Initial model downloads and availability are managed by Apple.

AI explanations are temporary and can be inaccurate. Suggested item details are applied only after your review and are saved only when you save the item. Saved details then follow your collection’s normal storage and optional sync settings.

Siri and Shortcuts use Apple’s system services and privacy settings. Keeps supplies requested item names and identifiers to resolve actions and identify the item currently displayed. The supported actions open the app to search, view an item, create an item draft, or show Overview; they do not automatically save or delete purchases. Device authentication is required for these actions.

Apple purchase archives and app icons

When you select an Apple purchase-history ZIP archive, Keeps reads its supported purchase records on your device. You review and select purchases before they are added to your collection. The archive itself is not uploaded to the developer or to Apple by Keeps.

If you enable app icons during review, Keeps sends app identifiers and a storefront country code to Apple’s public catalog to look up names and artwork. Purchase amounts, purchase dates, your Apple account, and the archive are not sent with these lookups. Apple and artwork hosts receive ordinary network requests. Turn off app icons to skip catalog lookups and artwork downloads. Available icons you confirm are saved with the imported items and may synchronize through your private iCloud database.

Currency conversions

For reference conversions, Keeps contacts Frankfurter with currency codes and, for historical rates, purchase or sale dates. Item names, purchase amounts, photos, and notes are not sent. As with any internet connection, the service infrastructure receives the network request.

Saved transaction rates are retained with items for offline use and synchronize with the collection. Latest daily rates are cached on the device. Frankfurter describes its own service and data-handling practices on its website.

Warranty reminders in the upcoming 1.1.0 update

Optional warranty reminders are scheduled locally with the operating system. Notification content may include an item name and its warranty expiry date. This information is not sent to a developer-operated server. You control notification permission and Lock Screen previews in system settings.

Reminder timing is a preference on each device. Warranty dates follow the collection’s existing storage and optional iCloud sync settings. Reminders are included in the submitted 1.1.0 update and are not included in the public 1.0.0 release.

Advertising, analytics, and diagnostics

Keeps includes no advertising, third-party analytics, or cross-app tracking. It does not send collection data or its own analytics to a developer-operated service.

Apple may provide TestFlight feedback, crash reports, and diagnostics under its terms and your Apple settings. Feedback you choose to submit may contain your contact information, comments, or screenshots.

Backups and removing data

Exported JSON backups contain item details, photos, and usage history. They remain wherever you save or share them, including any cloud storage provider you choose.

Deleting an item while sync is enabled removes its details, photos, and history from the synchronized collection when deletion reaches your devices. Deletion records, including identifiers and dates for deleted usage entries, remain to keep an older device from restoring removed data. Turning sync off pauses synchronization; it does not erase the iCloud collection or exported backups.

To remove items from the synced collection, delete them with sync enabled and allow the changes to reach your other devices. Manage app data in iCloud through your Apple account’s iCloud storage settings. Delete exported backups separately from the locations where you saved them.

Feedback in 1.1.0

Feedback opens your default email app with an editable template containing your hardware model, operating system version, and Keeps version/build. It does not attach diagnostic logs or automatically include item names, photos, notes, or collection data. You can remove the technical details and choose what to send. Nothing is sent until you send the email.

The update removes the app-owned plaintext diagnostic log, including the legacy log left by earlier versions. Private system debug events remain subject to Apple’s logging controls and are not attached to feedback.

iCloud collection sync is included with the Keeps app purchase. There are no in-app purchases or purchase checks in the sync flow. Sync uses your own private iCloud storage.

Contact and policy changes

If you email support, the developer and email providers receive the information you choose to send, including your email address, message, and attachments. It is used to respond to your request. A complete collection backup is not needed for an ordinary support question.

This policy describes the Keeps app. External websites and services have their own policies. If Keeps changes how it handles information, this page will be updated with a new date.
