Why does the AI Coach mention workouts I logged in another app?

By default, LiftCoach reads your workout history from Apple Health so it can give accurate suggestions. If you ran in Apple Fitness yesterday, the coach knows. Toggle Settings → AI & Models → "Use Workouts from Other Apps" off if you'd rather it only see LiftCoach sessions.

What's the difference between Apple Intelligence and the On-Device unlock?

Apple Intelligence is Apple's built-in on-device model — fast, polite, but smaller. The On-Device unlock adds Qwen 2.5 / Phi-3.5 / Llama 3.2: bigger open-weight models that run on Apple MLX and produce noticeably better strength-training advice. Both stay 100% offline.

Do I need to bring my own API key?

Only if you choose OpenAI, Claude, or a custom endpoint. Apple Intelligence and the On-Device unlock work with no key — they run on your phone.

Why are the demo animations static for some exercises?

Demos come from the open-source free-exercise-db. Where there's no GIF, LiftCoach falls back to an anatomical diagram showing the muscles trained, or to an SF Symbol for cardio movements that don't translate to a body silhouette.

How do I change the demo animation speed?

Settings → Workout Defaults → Demo Animation Speed. Slow / Normal / Fast / Pause on first frame. Default is Normal (~1.4s up-down cycle).

Where are my workouts stored?

On your device and in your private iCloud account. There is no LiftCoach server. Read the privacy policy →

Will LiftCoach work without internet?

Yes for everything except cloud AI providers. Logging, history, charts, animations, Apple Intelligence, and the On-Device LLM all work offline. Cloud providers (OpenAI / Claude / custom) need network.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Settings → Backup & Restore → Export. You'll get a portable backup file you can save to Files, share, or restore from later. CSV export of working sets is available from the Today tab.

How do I restore my purchase on a new device?

Settings → AI & Models → AI Add-Ons → Restore Purchases. Family Sharing is intentionally off for the on-device unlock.
