First-time SimpleFIN setup

SimpleFIN gives you a setup token after you authorize your bank on their site. Paste it into Settings → Bank Connection → Add. SpendWisely stores the token in the iOS Keychain and uses it to fetch transactions on a schedule.

Transactions out of date or missing

Settings → Bank Connection → Refresh. If a specific account stopped pulling, your bank likely re-prompted SimpleFIN for re-auth — log into your SimpleFIN bridge, refresh that account, then pull again from SpendWisely.

Duplicate accounts after a re-link

Pull-to-refresh on the Accounts screen often reconciles them. If duplicates persist, long-press the older account → Archive. Archived accounts disappear from totals but their history stays for the period reports.

Manual transactions

+ button on Transactions → Add Manually. Useful for cash spending or accounts SimpleFIN doesn't support yet.

AI categorization not great

Settings → AI → re-pick. Apple Intelligence is fast and free; cloud providers are usually better at edge cases (one-off merchants, rare categories) but cost per request. The on-device LLM (the unlock) sits in the middle — slower than cloud, far better than the free option for unusual descriptions.

Categorization keeps getting one merchant wrong

Long-press a transaction → Always categorize "Stripe \*MerchantName" as Subscriptions (or whichever). Local rules override the AI, and they sync via iCloud across your devices.

Budget didn't reset on the 1st

Budgets reset based on the period you set (calendar month by default, but custom 4-week or pay-period cycles also work). Settings → Budgets → tap a budget to see the cycle. If yours is wrong, edit it once and it'll reset on the new schedule going forward.
