I’d seen 大耳朵TV recommend these National Geographic AirPods cases several times in his videos. I couldn’t find them on Amazon, but eventually found them on eBay and bought them there.
And yes, I love them. I use the green one, and my wife likes the yellow one more.
A small case with some personality
The design is quite different from a plain silicone cover. There are dark bumpers around the corners, a clasp across the front, and a carabiner on the side. The yellow version makes the National Geographic branding particularly obvious; the green version is more subdued.
These are protective covers for the AirPods charging cases. The packaging calls them “Rugged Bumper Lock” cases and includes a carabiner. The photos show the yellow version labeled for AirPods Pro 3 and the green version labeled for AirPods Pro 2.
The detail to get right
Compatibility matters more than the color. The two boxes look similar, but they are for different AirPods generations. The shape, openings, and lid all need to match the charging case inside.
The clip gives the case somewhere to attach, and the front clasp adds a deliberate step to opening it. Whether those are useful depends on how you carry your AirPods: attached to a bag, loose in a pocket, or tucked into a pouch.
The tradeoff
A bumper and a clip add bulk to something that is normally very small. The latch also means another action each time you open it. I like the cases, but I haven’t drop-tested them, so I wouldn’t turn the rugged styling into a claim about how much impact they can survive.
