Keeps 1.4.0 is on the App Store for iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

The things you own have more to tell you than what they cost on the day you bought them. A camera you take out every weekend, a pair of headphones you use every day, a coffee kit that has been on the counter for years: the purchase price is only the beginning.

This update gives that history a new shape. Your collection is a shelf of paper price tags, with photos and illustrated stickers for the things you keep. Open an item to see what you paid, how long you have owned it, and what it costs per day or per use.

A little more value with every use

Log a use and the cost per use follows along. Set a cost-per-use goal and a punch card shows your progress toward it. The Uses calendar lets you look back and add a use you forgot to record.

There is still no need to log everything. Cost per day updates from the purchase date. If an estimated usage frequency fits an item better, you can use that instead; estimated figures stay labeled.

The Shortcuts automations still work, too. An app opening, an NFC tag, or a Bluetooth connection can record a use without opening Keeps.

Make the collection yours

Photos now have three ways to sit on an item page: Cutout, Print, or Fill. Keep the same background across the collection, or choose a presentation that suits each item. If you have not added a photo, an illustrated sticker gives the tag something of its own.

There are six themes: Forest, Harbor, Clay, Plum, Graphite, and Midnight. Each has light and dark appearances and matching app icons.

The iPhone and iPad widgets have been redrawn to match. Overview, Item details, Item suggestion, and Record use bring the paper tags outside the app. You can keep an item in sight or log a use from the Home Screen.

Find the detail you remember

You do not have to remember an item’s exact name. Search looks through names, categories, notes, and tags, including items you have retired or sold. Results explain where the match came from.

On iPhone, search is part of Collection, alongside the Overview and Settings tabs. On iPad and Mac, it stays in the toolbar.

Overview brings together the things earning their keep, goals that are getting close, and upcoming renewals and warranty dates. Apps and subscriptions stay alongside physical belongings, with recurring costs shown in their own terms.

Keep a copy to come back to

Automatic backups can run daily or weekly when you open Keeps or bring it back to the foreground after the collection changes. Choose how many copies to keep. Manual backups, export, and optional private iCloud sync are still there.

You can also review Apple purchase history, Amazon orders, receipts, and CSV files before adding purchases with Keeps Pro. Nothing is added until you choose what to import.

Start with a few things

Keeps is now free to download, with room for up to 30 items. Logging, cost insights, widgets, Shortcuts, backups, export, and iCloud sync are included.

Keeps Pro is a one-time purchase for unlimited items and purchase imports. If you bought Keeps before it became free, Pro is included.
